Monroe, MI – A motorcyclist from Mount Clemens died after colliding with a car, and being struck by a second car, on I-75 in Monroe County.

Sheriff Troy Goodnough reports that the crash occurred north of South Otter Creek, in LaSalle Township on Wednesday morning at around 3:30 AM.

Preliminary investigation reveals that a 64 year old Toledo man was operating a black 2017 Ford Escape northbound on I-75, in the left travel lane, within a construction zone. While in motion, he was rear-ended by a 46 year old Mount Clemens man who was operating a black 2022 Harley Davidson motorcycle.

After impact, the Mount Clemens man fell from his motorcycle coming to rest in the left lane of travel, and was then struck by a red 2016 Ford Focus operated by a 52 year old Toledo man.

The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased on scene from injuries suffered in the crash. The Toledo men were not injured. When both crashes occurred, the car-drivers were wearing their safety belts. The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet. Speed is considered to be a factor.

The crash remains under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
