
Adrian, MI – The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy has announced that 19 grants have been awarded to support watershed and conservation efforts, including the River Raisin Watershed Council.
State Senator Joe Bellino applauded the announcement, which awarded a total of about $600,000.
Grants are limited to $40,000 per applicant, and the projects will be completed within a year of receiving the grants. The River Raisin Watershed Council will receive $39,940.
Grant funding can be used for organizational and administrative support for watershed organizations; outreach and educational activities for a variety of watershed issues; installing best management practices to control nonpoint sources of pollution; developing watershed management plans; water quality and aquatic life monitoring; among other issues.
