Whiteford Twp., MI – Three Adrian residents were involved in a serious injury crash in Monroe County Saturday evening.
Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough said that the crash occurred in the intersection of Memorial Highway and Sterns Road in Whiteford Township just before 8pm.
Preliminary investigation reveals a 17-year-old female from Adrian was operating a Subaru Outback traveling westbound on West Sterns Road. As she approached Memorial Highway, the Sheriff’s office says that she disregarded the posted stop sign and entered the intersection.
She then struck a Chevrolet Cruze occupied by two 20-year-old Adrian residents. The Cruze was traveling southeast on Memorial Highway.
The drivers of both vehicles were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. The Sheriff’s office says that airbags deployed in both vehicles, and that driver inattention is a factor in the crash.
All three people involved in the crash were transported to ProMedica Toledo Hospital, where they are listed in critical condition.
The crash remains under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
