Monroe Resident Dies in Motorcycle Crash Near Milan

Milan, MI – A 49-year-old Monroe resident died Saturday afternoon in a motorcycle crash on Plank Road in London Township. Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough reports that the crash occurred at 3:36 p.m.

Preliminary investigation reveals Roland A. Laura III was operating a 2003 Honda Shadow motorcycle, failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, and entered a ditch.

He struck an embankment, and was thrown from the motorcycle. They were not wearing a helmet. Speed and alcohol are considered factors in the crash. Laura was transported to Trinity Health Hospital in Ypsilanti, where he was pronounced deceased from injuries suffered in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
