Monroe County/Toledo North KOA Holiday Campground Permanently Closes Swimming Lake

Petersburg, MI – The Monroe County/Toledo North KOA Holiday campground has permanently closed the swimming lake on the property.

This closured comes days after an Ohio teenager drowned in the lake. While all other campground amenities and activities will remain open, KOA says that they understand this may impact their guests. Therefore, they are offering full refunds to guests who want to cancel their reservation between July 5th and September 4th, 2023.

18-year-old Anthony Lavelle Shores Jr., from Pickerington, Ohio, was pronounced deceased after his body was recovered from the pond at the KOA Campground in Summerfield Township on Wednesday of last week.
