Adrian, MI – The Lenawee County Board of Commissioners talked about the future multi-million-dollar renovation of the Maurice Spear Campus.
MSC is a 66-bed, County-operated detention and treatment facility located on 35 acres of land. The complex has five buildings: secure detention, residential treatment center, school, gymnasium, and chapel.
The center is designed to help troubled youth and their families by providing a safe and secure environment for residents and staff. County Administrator Kim Murphy says that the building hasn’t seen significant improvements in decades…
Administrator Murphy talked about the firm that the Commissioners decided to hire at their recent Board meeting…
The Board allocated between $5 and 6 million dollars of American Rescue Plan Act funds towards the Maurice Spear Campus renovation.
It is highly likely that the project will exceed that amount, so the county will seek additional funding sources…whether that’s through the State budgeting process or a local bond.
