Adrian, MI – The Adrian City Commission talked at great length in their pre-meeting study session about the future of Bohn Pool.

The group was presented with the pool study that they paid for several months ago, which included the current status of the pool and possible options moving forward.

In addition to the pool study, City of Adrian Parks and Recreation Director Jeremiah Davies explained why the facility did not open on June 3rd, as they were supposed to. He said that the boiler, installed in 1999, has finally succumbed to its life expectancy and is no longer operational.

The cost to replace is estimated at $80,000, and the lead time is 4 to 6 months. Pools should be kept anywhere between 78 and 82 degrees…Bohn Pool’s water is currently at about 68 degrees.

Director Davies also told the Commission that the Pool’s 35-year-old pump is ‘hanging on by a thread.’ The cost to replace would be about $17,000. The 30-year-old Water Quality Control Pump…which monitors the PH level in the pool…is working intermittently.

Davies said that the pool is safe to use, but the temperature cannot be regulated. He plans to open the pool by the end of next week. The City Commission voted to waive fees for Bohn Pool this season.

The question now is, what is the future of the Pool… repair or replace? WLEN News will talk about the options in a future newscast.
