Lenawee County Commission Split 4-4 on Lenawee Now Contract Vote

boc

Adrian, MI – The division within the Lenawee County Board of Commissioners came to the forefront on Thursday, with a split vote turning down a contract for Lenawee Now.

Just a few weeks ago, the full board voted in favor of ordering a forensic audit of the economic developmental arm of Lenawee County. Now, before the audit could be completed, an agenda item was added to the recent Special night meeting of the BOC called ‘Lenawee Now Contract’.

WLEN News asked BOC Chairman Jim VanDoren why he added the contract to the recent meeting…

The vote for the contract between Lenawee Now and the County was split down the middle… 4 to 4. Commissioner “KZ” Bolton was absent from the meeting last week. Commissioners Dustin Krasney, Nancy Jenkins-Arno, Kevon Martis, and Van Doren voted in favor of the contract. WLEN News asked Van Doren why he voted in favor of the contract…

On the other side of the coin, Commissioners Dawn Bales, Terry Collins, Ralph Tillotson, and David Stimpson voted to not allow the contract to move forward.

Commissioner Stimpson explained to WLEN News why he voted the way that he did…

The 4-4 vote means that the resolution failed.
