
Monroe, MI – A 23-year-old Toledo resident drowned in a body of water in Milan Township Saturday night. Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough said that the drowning occurred at Milan Beach at around 6pm.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team responded to the scene and began efforts to locate the victim underwater. The victim was recovered from the water shortly after 8pm and was pronounced deceased.
The case remains under investigation. Milan Township Fire Department, Dundee Township Fire Department, and Monroe Community Ambulance assisted at the scene, as well as the Dundee Police Department, Milan Police Department, and Conservation Officers with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
