51-Year-Old Man Dies in Friday Crash; Third Consecutive Day of Fatal Crashes in Lenawee County

Addison, MI – A 51-year-old man driving a moped in northwest Lenawee County Friday afternoon was killed when his vehicle was struck by a car.

The Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office says that the crash occurred shortly after 12PM on US-127 near Junction Road in Woodstock Township.

According to Sheriff’s Deputies, a black Yamaha moped, driven by the 51-year-old from Cement City was traveling southbound on US- 127.

A black 2017 Toyota RAV4, driven by a 27-year old male from Addison was also traveling southbound on US-127. The driver of the car struck the rear of the moped. The Sheriff’s office believes that the driver of the black Toyota was distracted at the time of the crash. He was wearing his seatbelt.

The driver of the moped was not wearing a helmet, and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Addison Fire Department, Adrian Police Department, Tecumseh Police Department, Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office, and the Michigan State Police.
