16-Year-Old Dies in Dirt Bike/Car Crash Thursday Afternoon Near Morenci

Seneca Twp., Lenawee County – A 16-year-old male from Morenci died as a result of injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash on Lime Creek Highway Thursday afternoon.

At approximately 4:13pm, troopers from the Michigan State Police Monroe Post were dispatched to a personal injury crash south of W. Mulberry Rd in Seneca Township. MSP says that, based on evidence on scene and witness statements, a black Ford Fusion driven by a 19-year-old female from Morenci was driving southbound on Lime Creek Hwy. As the vehicle was approaching the City of Morenci, the 16-year-old male entered the roadway on a Honda dirt bike. The male was struck by the Ford Fusion and suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash. The driver of the Ford Fusion suffered no injuries.

Preliminary investigation does not indicate speed or alcohol to be factors in the crash, and this incident remains under investigation by the Michigan State Police.
