Hudson, MI – Southwest: Storytellers On The Rise, a writing contest put-on by the major airline, was won by a local resident…and has been turned into a film.
In 2021, E.A. Comiskey won the contest hosted by Southwest Airlines and Wattpad with her short story, Alone in Tombstone. Comiskey is a native of Blissfield, and currently resides in Hudson. Her story is a coming-of-age tale about life, love, and loss, inspired by true events in the author’s life.
The team at Southwest so loved the winning entry that they determined to expand their vision for the ‘On The Rise’ platform and brought in a team from Tongal Productions to adapt the story into a short film.

A red carpet premiere was hosted earlier this month at The Roxy Theatre in New York City.
The winning story can be found on the Wattpad platform under both E.A. Comiskey’s and Southwest Airline’s profiles. The film, trailer, and a behind the scenes look are available on Southwest’s YouTube channel.
The film will also be available on Southwest’s in-flight entertainment portal beginning June 1st.
