Adrian, MI – Lenawee County police officers, retired officers, family members, and the community gathered in Adrian Monday morning at the annual Fallen Officers Memorial Ceremony at Oakwood Cemetery.

Adrian Charter Township Police Chief John Elkins was the emcee for the brief ceremony. He talked to WLEN News about what it was like to speak to the attendees…

The eight officers who passed away in the line of duty in the County are memorialized by road signs throughout Lenawee. The man behind the scenes to make it all happen, Jim Driskill (pictured below, on the right), talked to WLEN News about what inspired him to take-on the project, and the process to get it done…

Driskill went on to talk about the other individuals and groups in the community that worked together to get the signs in place. He got emotional when he mentioned the Lenawee Community Foundation and their CEO at the time, Sue Hammersmith…

The eight fallen officers in Lenawee County are:

  • Dennis Lyons and Bobby Williams with the Adrian Police Department
  • Richard Teske with the Village of Clayton
  • Stanley Hoisington with the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office
  • Calvin Jones, Byron Erickson, Roger Adams, and Dugald Pellot with the Michigan State Police
