
Adrian, MI – The Adrian Public Schools and Adrian Police Department have partnered to employ a K-9 Unit for APS.
They have introduced a new partner for the current Resource Officer Josh Perry with a 1 year old Golden Retriever named Charlie. Charlie has ben trained as an emotional support K-9 to assist the staff and students who may have experienced trauma, track lost or missing children and detect weapons and other illegal items that may find their way into the schools.
Resource Officer Perry said that Charlie will work with him daily, making this program one of the first in Michigan for public schools. Officer Perry is considered one of the top handlers in the state. He has been handling and training both civilian and Police K-9s for about 20 years.
