Adrian, MI – The powdered egg processing facility on Adrian’s east side has been issued a violation notice from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy in reference to the odors being emitted from the facility.
The notice, which can be found on the EGLE website, states that the agency followed up on ongoing complaints that were received concerning orders coming from Crimson Holdings LLC.
The violation went on to say that the Air Quality Division staff detected odors in a residential area near the company up to a half mile downwind. These odors were impacting residents and nearby commercial businesses.
In a written response by Crimson’s Plant Manager Dan Hofbauer, which is on file with EGLE, says that they do not agree with the State Agency’s assessment that odors observed constituted a violation.
Hofbauer went on to say that Crimson is disappointed that EGLE opted to issue the Violation Notice knowing that they had just installed the 100 foot stack and was still working out the ‘kinks’… and continue to spend considerable time, effort and money exploring options to further mitigate potential nuisance odors coming from the farm operation.
The installation of the stack was completed by March 16th.
