Adrian, MI – Due to the heavy rains and saturated soils, the City of Adrian Utilities Department experienced sanitary sewer overflows at locations north of Race Street along the south branch of the River Raisin.
The overflow of sewage, highly diluted by storm-water, began at approximately 1 p.m. Monday afternoon and ended at approximately 10p.m. Monday night. The Lenawee County Health Department and downstream entities have been notified. The City says that lime has been spread on the affected areas to aid in neutralization.
Water quality samples will be taken as necessary. Avoid direct contact with this portion of the River Raisin until further notice.
