Adrian, MI – It was a record-setting night at the Siena Heights University Fieldhouse Thursday night, as the SHU Women’s Basketball team defeated the University of Northwestern Ohio 93-83 in the conference quarterfinal game.

Peyton Banks scored a school-record 47 points and became Siena Heights’ all-time leading scorer in basketball for both men and women as the Saints outlasted the Racers in double-overtime.

Banks, already the SHU women’s career leader in points, eclipsed Brent Tucker, who had 2,122 points for the Saint men in 1990-94. Banks now has 2,145 career points.

The prior single-game record was 41 points by Sierra Calhoun in 2015.

The Saints trailed most of the night before making a comeback effort in the fourth quarter. SHU was down 35-29 at halftime and 46-41 after three periods.

Late in the game, the Racers went on a 6-0 run before a layup by Kayla Hinton tied the contest at 65-65 to force overtime.

Siena built a 73-67 advantage early in the first OT and UNOH had another answer. A late 3-pointer forced a second overtime.

In the second OT, Banks single-handedly led the Saints on a 9-0 run… and SHU held the Racers off the rest of the way.

Sha’kyia Parker added 14 points and Kayla Hinton had 12 for Siena Heights. E’Anna Won grabbed 13 rebounds.

Payton Banks also finished with 19 rebounds for SHU, who advanced to the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference…and will host Rochester on Saturday afternoon at 5pm. The game will be broadcast on 103.9fm WLEN.
