Law Enforcement: Noise Near Adrian Schools was Backfiring Vehicle, Secure Mode Lifted

Adrian, MI – Adrian Public Schools Superintendent Nate Parker has moved three Adrian Public Schools out of Secure Mode after a sound was reported that initially sounded like possible gunshots.

Parker, in an update sent to WLEN News, said that local law enforcement has determined that the noise reported earlier this morning was from a vehicle backfiring. Adrian High School, Springbrook Middle School, and Alexander Elementary and will move out of Secure Mode.

He thanks all staff, students, parents and community members for the public’s cooperation as they work as a team to keep students and staff safe.

Superintendent Parker thanked local law enforcement for their quick response and assistance in ruling out any threat to APS.
