Adrian, MI – An alert was issued this morning to the Adrian Public Schools community to make them aware that Adrian High School, Springbrook Middle School, and Alexander Elementary will all be operating in secure mode until further notice.

Superintendent Nate Parker said in the alert that it is being done as a precaution due to a report of a popping noise heard in an adjacent neighborhood that “could” have been gunfire.

Parker said that there has been no threat to any APS students or staff members and no verification as to what caused this noise, however, they will operate under Secure mode to ensure the safety of all staff and students. The Adrian Police Department is assisting to ensure the noises are not a threat.

Parker said that Secure mode provides extra vigilance and security against an outside threat, but allows the schools to operat as normal within the buildings.
