Madison Twp., MI – A physical altercation took place between two Madison middle school students Tuesday morning, resulting in the school having to call-in an ambulance.

Madison Schools Superintendent Nick Steinmetz said that the action took place at 7:15am at the school, and that no other students were at risk. Steinmetz also said that the School Resource Officer on duty was able to defuse the situation in under three minutes. He said that the actions displayed by the students involved were unacceptable and will not be tolerated within the district.

Steinmetz explained that the district is working collaboratively with their School Resource Officer, their Board of Education, and the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office to ensure all district and legal actions are taken.

A statement issued to parents in the district said that the top priority of the Madison School District has always, and will continue to be, the safety and well-being of their students and staff.
