Lenawee County Personnel/Ways & Means Committee Debate Administrator Contract

Adrian, MI – The Lenawee County Personnel/Ways & Means committee met Tuesday in Adrian…a two-plus-hour-long meeting that got confrontational at times.

A motion was put forward by Commissioner Jim Van Doren to rescind the contract of County Administrator Kim Murphy…a three year document that was approved by the prior Commission. He said that the contract was not legal, based on a Public Act.

Commissioner David Stimpson argued that the contract is indeed legal, and that discussing the matter at that time was in violation of the Open Meetings Act.

Administrator Murphy’s contract will be reviewed by additional legal counsel, and will be before the Ways and Means committee for further discussion, and possible action, during their March meeting.

Five Commissioners… Jim Van Doren, Dustin Krasny, Kevin Martis, Terry Collins, and Nancy Jenkins-Arno voted ‘yes’ on the motion.

Four Commissioners… David Stimpson, Ralph Tillotson, Dawn Bales, and “KZ” Bolton voted ‘no.’
