
Adrian, MI – The City of Adrian has issued a public notice for nominating petitions for Mayor and City Commission for the upcoming local election.
Clerk Robin Conner says the petitions will be available for pickup starting Monday, January 9th at the City Clerk’s Office on the 2nd floor of City Hall, in Adrian.
The documents are due back by Tuesday, April 25th, 2023 at 4:00PM
The following seats will be available:
Mayor (2-year term)
City Commission Seat (4-year term)
City Commission Seat (4-year term)
City Commission Seat (4-year term)
The following terms will expire in 2023: Mayor Angela Heath, Commissioner Mary Roberts, Commissioner Lad Strayer and Commissioner Allen Heldt.
Here are the qualifications, and needed candidate information:
1. Must be a registered voter in the City of Adrian
2. Shall not be in default to the City.
3. Petitions should be completely filled in at the top before circulating for signatures.
4. A minimum of 50 valid signatures, but no more than 100, must be obtained and must be from registered voters in the City of Adrian.
5. Petitions shall be returned by the candidate in person and shall accompany a completed notarized “Affidavit of Identity and receipt of Filing” form.
6. The “Affidavit of Identity” must reflect the candidates’s name as is should appear on the ballot. No nicknames or titles.
7. The “Affidavit of Identity” must be notarized.
8. New candidates must file a “Statement of Organization” form with the Lenawee County Clerk’s Office.
