Adrian, MI – A man turned himself in to the Adrian Police Department Monday, was taken into custody, and lodged on several felony counts related to an incident Friday in the 300 block of East Beecher.

A news release by the Adrian Police Department Tuesday morning said that they were dispatched to 304 East Beecher for a report of a woman screaming in the alley.

The first unit to arrive located the victim and suspect seated on the ground in the alley. Initial observations made it appear that the suspect was helping the victim stand up. However, as the interaction between the officer, victim, and suspect unfolded, it became apparent to police that the suspect was restraining the victim from leaving.

The suspect let go of the victim, and walked off as the lone officer tended to the victim.

Once the victim was physically safe, a full statement was taken. The victim alleged that the suspect, who is a former boyfriend of the victim, had taken her car keys and cell phone, and had chased her down and detained her against her will.

The victim alleged that the suspect struck her in the face with a handgun as well, and had threatened to shoot her and the officer upon contact.

A perimeter was established, and a K9 track was conducted by Michigan State Police, but the suspect was not located at the time of the incident. No handgun was located in the area.

Monday, APD said that the suspect appeared at the Adrian Police Department to make a statement. At that time, he was taken into custody, and lodged at the Lenawee County Jail

There does not appear to be any outstanding threat to the community from this suspect at this time.
