Adrian, MI – The Community Action agency is in need of volunteers for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA) for the upcoming tax season.

Volunteers needed include tax preparers, greeters, office support, data entry, computer specialists and a site manager. The Community Action Agency says that no experience is necessary as they will train volunteers.

Orientation is scheduled for December 15th with the official training beginning on January 6th, 2023. Training will be offered twice per week and will be accessible via Zoom. For those unable to attend the training times, the sessions will be recorded and arrangements can be made to get the training completed individually.

There are training options for those who have volunteered in the past, which allow for updates to new tax changes, but doesn’t require those individuals to complete the full training.

The Community Action Agency is asking for volunteers to commit 4 to 8 hours per week during tax season, though the times are flexible. Volunteers will be able to give their availability, which may include mornings, afternoons, evenings or weekends, and the Community Action Agency will schedule appointments based on the volunteer availability.

Volunteers are needed in Hillsdale, Jackson and Lenawee Counties, but volunteers will be able to work in their respective counties.

Those interested in being a volunteer this tax season are asked to contact Laurie by calling (517) 435-4372 or by e-mail at llazarus@caajlh.org.
