
Monroe, MI – Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough is reporting a Serious Injury Traffic Crash that occurred on the west side of the closed Nadeau Road, I-75 overpass in Frenchtown Township.
The crash occurred on Monday, November 28th at 7:14 p.m. Preliminary investigation reveals a 59-year-old Monroe man was operating a black 1980 Suzuki motorcycle traveling westbound on the Nadeau Road overpass, which is under construction. The overpass had multiple barricades and “Road Closed” signs advising the motoring public the bridge was not accessible.
While in motion, and for unknown reasons he lost control of his motorcycle falling to the ground. The man, being separated from his motorcycle, came to rest in the westbound lane of Nadeau Road near the southbound I-75 exit ramp.
At the time of the crash, he was not wearing a helmet. Speed and alcohol are not factors in the crash. He was transported to Beaumont Trenton Hospital in Trenton, where he is listed in critical condition.
Members of the Frenchtown Township Fire Department and Monroe Community Ambulance assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Uniformed Services Division.
