Adrian, MI – Adrian Public Schools are closed today due to a threat this morning. APS Superintendent Nate Parker issued the following update for parents, guardians and students:
The threat referenced in my earlier alert was received at the Bus Garage. Working with the Michigan State Police, Adrian Police Department and other law enforcement resources we have determined that this was not a credible threat to the school and that there was not and is not a threat to any Adrian Public Schools staff, students or employees.
Law Enforcement is following up on leads and we are working to apprehend the caller. Legal and Disciplinary action will be imposed to the fullest extent allowed by our code of conduct and policies. This provides another opportunity to speak with your children about the severe consequences of making threats of any nature. We will take all such threats seriously and take the necessary legal and disciplinary action should they occur regardless of whether it is construed as a “joke or a prank.”
Again I apologize for the inconvenience this morning’s events caused for so many, and appreciate your cooperation. We will always take all precautions and ensure that our students and staff are safe. I also want to thank the APS staff, Officer Perry, The Adrian Police Department and The Michigan State Police for their rapid and coordinated response to respond to this incident and ensure the safety of all. I also want to thank all of those professionals and individuals that have worked to put training and protocols in place to ensure that we have the necessary preparedness for these situations.

- Middle School Events: Following standard protocol, due to the school closure all Middle School practices and events are canceled.
- Fine Arts Camp: Following standard Protocol, due to the school closure, the elementary fine arts camp is canceled for today.
- Youth Recreation Events: Following standard protocol, due to the school closure all Youth Recreation Events using APS facilities are canceled.
- Honors Concert: Honors Choir rehearsal and concert will continue as planned. Please look for communication from Mrs. Schenck Mrs. Miloser for details regarding this event.
- Girls Volleyball Districts at Pinckney: The Girls will travel tonight to Pinckney as planned to pursue a district title. Please look for additional communication from coach Davis.
- High School Cross Country Practice: Cross Country Practice will be held. Please look for Communication from Coach MacNaughton for details.
- High School Swim Practice: Swim Practice will be held. Please look for communication from coach Petkus for details.
Boys Basketball Meeting: This meeting will be rescheduled. Please look for communication from coach Kelly regarding the date. - After-school Weight Room: Is canceled for today.
