Monroe, MI – Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough is reporting a Fatal Traffic Crash that occurred on northbound I-75, south of the Summit Street exit ramp, in Erie Township. The crash occurred on Sunday, October 30th at 2:41 a.m.
Preliminary investigation reveals that a 33-year-old Monroe man was operating a black 2009 Subaru Impreza in the center travel lane of northbound I-75 having limited visibility due to heavy fog conditions. According to police, as the driver approached the Summit Street exit ramp, he struck 33-year-old Monroe man, Devontae Shackelford. Shackelford was struck again multiple times by unknown vehicles, who failed to stop at the scene. It was reported that Shackelford was standing on the freeway in the center travel lane after parking and exiting his vehicle from the freeway shoulder.
