Adrian, MI – Lenawee County Sheriff’s Deputy, Bill Warner, received the County Medal of Honor and the Life Saving Award at Wednesday’s Board of Commissioners Meeting.

On the morning of September 8th, near Morenci, Deputy Warner was conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle with improper plates. It was discovered that both the driver and passenger had numerous outstanding felony warrants for their arrest from multiple jurisdictions.

A chase ensued. The suspect vehicle struck another vehicle, lost control, and flipped onto a riverbank off of Ridgeville Road. The vehicle then caught on fire with the driver trapped inside. Deputy Warner pulled the man out of the burning car.

Warner, a 30-plus-year veteran of Lenawee County law enforcement, told WLEN News that he was simply doing his job…

He has been with the Sheriff’s Office for just short of 5 years…and spent the 28 years prior to that at the City of Tecumseh Police Department.

Sheriff Troy Bevier called Deputy Bill Warner a hero…
