Monroe, MI – Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough is reporting a fatal traffic crash that occurred on S. County Line Highway, south of Ottawa Lake Road, in Whiteford Township early Wednesday morning.

Preliminary investigation reveals that 24 year old Ronni L. Vansteenkiste-Amador, of Riga, was operating a gray 2010 Dodge Journey northbound on S. County Line Highway. While in motion, and for unknown reasons, her vehicle traveled off of the roadway to the east entering onto private property at the northeast intersection of Ottawa Lake Road. Miss. Vansteenkiste-Amador’s vehicle then entered, and crossed over, Ottawa Lake Road coming to rest in the north side ditch. When the crash occurred, airbags in the Dodge Journey did not deploy and Miss. Vansteenkiste-Amador was not wearing her safety belt.

She was transported to ProMedica Toledo Hospital in Toledo, Ohio by Monroe Community Ambulance, where she was pronounced deceased from injuries suffered in the crash. It is unknown at this time if alcohol is involved; however, speed was a factor.

The crash remains under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Uniformed Services Division along with the Sheriff’s Office Traffic Services Division. Anyone with information is asked to call 734-240-7756.
