Adrian, MI – The Robinson Planetarium at Adrian College has set its program schedule for August. All shows are on Fridays — 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th — starting promptly at 7 p.m.
Star Talk: The Summer Skies: The Robinson Planetarium will have a look at Summer Skies during August. The summer constellations are high in the sky with brightly shining constellations such as Scorpius and Sagittarius. The Summer Triangle, which encompasses three constellations, is also a prominent feature in the sky during summer. Join this event for a live star talk that will explore the summer constellations, and the new NASA Moon Human Launch vehicle, the Artemis, scheduled to launch in late August.
Earth, Moon, & Sun: This feature Fulldome show explores the relationship between the Earth, Moon and Sun with the help of Coyote, an amusing character adapted from Native American oral traditions, who has many misconceptions about Earth and its most familiar neighbors. Native American stories are used throughout the show to help distinguish between myths and science. Learn why the Sun rises and sets, and the basics of fusion and solar energy. Examine the Moon’s orbit, craters, phases and eclipses. This show is appropriate for families and elementary school children.
All programs are free and open to the public. Each program lasts approximately 45 minutes.
The Robinson Planetarium is located at the eastern end of Peelle Hall on the corner of Charles and Williams Streets on the Adrian College campus. Lawn signs will be posted.
