Adrian, MI – General Manager of Jacobs Flying Service and one-time Manager of the Lenawee County Airport…Hazel Jacobs…passed away Thursday at the age of 92.
Hazel and her late husband, Richard, operated Jacobs Flying Service from 1958 to 1995 and were longtime stewards of the Lenawee County Airport. She was a flight instructor with 6,000 hours of flight time.
Hazel was General Manager of Jacobs Flying Service from 1970 until her retirement in 1995 and the Lenawee County Airport Manager from 1984 to 1996 and again from 2000 to 2005. In 1992, she was the Michigan Airport Manager of the Year.
In 2013, Hazel was the first woman in the State of Michigan to be awarded the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award from the FAA for completing 50 years of Safe Flight and making significant contributions to aviation.
Visitation for Hazel Jacobs will be Wednesday, July 27th, from 3-7 p.m. at the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian. The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 28th, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Parish, St. Mary Campus in Adrian.
