Adrian, MI – The Adrian Center for the Art’s current gallery, ‘Ties that Bind’, is a collection of black facemasks with various mediums of art on them made by local and visiting artists.
The exhibit also features art made during the ACA’s ‘Art as Therapy’ classes this spring and pieces created in the ‘Frontline Worker’ classes held last year. The exhibit opens with a public reception this Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. ‘Ties that Bind’ closes August 20th.
Masks were embellished with art in the mediums of ceramics, pastels, painting, beading, crocheting, embroidery, and others. Artists expressed humor, resilience and hope for life after COVID-19.
More than 60 frontline workers took advantage of the complimentary classes the ACA offered this past year through a grant from the Stubnitz Foundation. Gallery hours are Thursdays and Fridays, from 1 to 4 p.m. and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Gallery is located at 1375 North Main Street, Building 46. For additional visit the website: adriancenterforthearts.org.
