
Adrian, MI – Over 40 years ago, Adrian Police Department Patrolman Bobby Lynn Williams lost his life in the line of duty, and on Monday, his sacrifice was memorialized on M-34 west of Main Street.
Patrolman Williams was shot and killed at around 6am on June 30th, 1975 after stopping a vehicle that was just involved in a robbery and kidnapping of a gas station attendant. Patrolman Williams was able to return fire after he had been shot… striking a tire. The occupants abandoned the car and were apprehended a short time later. 28-year-old Patrolman Bobby Lynn Williams had been with the Adrian Police Department for two years. He was survived by his wife and son.
