Adrian, MI – The Adrian man charged with Open Murder and multiple weapons charges has been found guilty, but mentally ill, in the fatal stabbing of an 85 year old man at Meijer. Alarik Guajardo was arrested in September of 2020 after Glen Meyers was killed in the store.

With the recent developments in the case, Guarjardo will have the three remaining counts dismissed at sentencing (Open Murder, Weapons-carrying concealed, and Weapons-dangerous weapons-carrying with unlawful intent).

He pleaded guilty to a fourth count: Murder-2nd degree.

Records show that a woman with a concealed pistol license witnessed the stabbing taking place. She drew her pistol on Guajardo and ordered him to the ground and held him at gunpoint until police arrived to make the arrest.

The sentencing hearing is scheduled for July 8th at 8:15am.
