Adrian, MI – The Lenawee Intermediate School District was notified as a funding recipient through the state’s Competitive School Safety Grant Program to upgrade secure entrances at student buildings.
The LISD is one of 14 intermediate school districts in Michigan to receive a grant.
The District plans to use the funds to create secure lobbies at the primary points of entry at the Tech Center and the Milton C. Porter Education Center, which houses career and technical education and special education programs.
These upgrades include fixed walls and electronically locked doors between the reception area of the school building and student classroom areas. The creation of more secure entrance areas will allow school employees to greet and screen visitors prior to granting access to student areas.
