Adrian, MI – Two representatives from the company pitched the Lenawee County Personnel Ways and Means Committee on multiple options for the proposed ‘Lenawee Community Complex’…commonly referred to as Project Phoenix… at their regular meeting Tuesday morning.
The lesser of the two options would cost around $65 million dollars…and the largest of the options would be around $88 million dollars. The complex, proposed to be built on the former Tecumseh Products site, would be home to outdoor fields and indoor facilities. The amount, and variety, of courts and fields built depends on the Commissioner’s decision.
It is unclear at this time if, or when, the Board of Commissioners will vote on the project. They did vote 8-1, back in October, to purchase the blighted property for about $2.3 million.
During the public comment session at the meeting Tuesday morning, several county residents voiced concerns over funding the project…and even said that they do not support the project itself.
People in support see Project Phoenix as an opportunity for economic growth in Tecumseh, and also Lenawee County as a whole.
