Monroe, MI – A Monroe man died while in custody at the Monroe County Jail.
Sheriff Troy Goodnough reports that the inmate was found by jail corrections officers Tuesday afternoon…hanging in his cell.
The officers immediately removed the ligature from the inmate’s neck and performed CPR until firefighters and paramedics arrived on the scene.
After continued life saving measures, the 37 year old man died. Out of respect for the family, the victim’s identity is being withheld at this time. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is saddened at the loss of life and extends their condolences to the individual’s family.
The incident remains under investigation.
