Monroe Man Dies in Early Morning Car Crash

Erie Twp., MI – The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash in Erie Township that occurred early Monday morning.

Sheriff Troy Goodnough reported that the crash occurred on Summit Street, south of Temperance Road, at about 3:30am.

Preliminary investigation revealed that 31-year-old Roderick Fair Jr., of Monroe, was operating a black 2016 Cadillac SRX southbound on Summit Street. While in motion, and for unknown reasons, Fair traveled off of the roadway to the west entering the ditch between Summit Street and Suder Avenue. Mr. Fair’s Cadillac then overturned multiple times coming to rest. When the crash occurred, the Cadillac’s airbags deployed. Fair was not wearing his safety belt.

Mr. Fair was transported to St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio, by Monroe Community Ambulance, where he was  pronounced deceased from injuries suffered in the crash. It is unknown at this time whether speed and alcohol are  involved.

The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Uniformed Services Division and the Traffic Division. Anyone with information is asked to call 734-240-7557.
