Monroe, MI – If you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day this week…or weekend… make sure you and your friends stay safe by remembering one important piece of advice, Buzzed Driving Is Drunk Driving.

This means that if you plan to drink, it’s essential that you plan ahead for a sober ride home.

Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough understands that people are looking for a reason to celebrate, and wants our community members to enjoy St. Patrick’s Day, but they also want to impress upon everyone the importance of safe driving. If you’ve been drinking, find a sober driver to get you and your friends home safely.

Drivers should also keep an eye out for pedestrians who have had too much to drink.
Don’t be the reason someone, including yourself, doesn’t get home. Take the role of designated driver seriously this St. Patrick’s Day… people are relying on you.
