Lansing, MI – The Michigan Legislature, with the support of Representative Bronna Kahle, finalized a plan to help reduce the cost of prescription medicine in the state.

Kahle, who chairs the House Health Policy Committee, said the average price of medication to treat diabetes, heart disease, depression and other common conditions has more than doubled over the past six years.

House Bill 4348 will help lower drug prices by reigning in pharmacy benefit managers. By making the middlemen more transparent and accountable to the people of Michigan, rebates from drug manufacturers are more likely to be passed along to patients and health plans, resulting in savings.

The plan now moves to the governor’s desk after receiving bipartisan support in the House and unanimous support in the Senate.
