
Riga Twp., MI – A two-vehicle crash in Riga Township Saturday afternoon resulted in one fatality, and three people sustaining serious injuries.
The Michigan State Police Monroe Post says that, from evidence and witness statements, a Chevrolet Suburban and Jeep Renegade collided near the intersection of East Horton Road and Lipp Highway.
Police said in a news release that the Jeep failed to stop at the intersection and crashed into the Chevy. The 20-year-old female drive of the Jeep was pronounced dead at the scene, and her 16-year-old female passenger was sent to the hospital with serious injuries.
The two occupants of the Chevy, a 51-year male driver and 55-year-old female passenger, were also transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be factors in the crash.
MSP Troopers were assisted on scene by the Blissfield Police Department, Riga Township Fire Department, and Madison Township Fire Department.
