Franklin Twp., MI – A two-car injury crash occurred Saturday evening at the intersection of M-52 and US-12 in Franklin Township.

The Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office reports that the traffic light at that intersection was not operational due to a weather-related power outage, and that both drivers failed to stop and/or yield at the crossroads.

According to Sheriff’s Deputies, a 2015 Dodge SUV was traveling northbound on M-52 driven by a 29-year-old Adrian  woman when it struck a 1978 Lincoln limousine driven by a 38-year old male from Southgate, who was traveling eastbound on US-12.

The driver of the Dodge SUV sustained non-life-threatening injuries as did the 3-year-old female, the 7-year-old female and the 9-year old female passengers. All were transported to Promedica Hickman Hospital. The driver of the Lincoln was not injured, however, the passengers; a 7-year-old female, 7-year-old-male, another 7 year-old-female, a 1-year-old female, a 33-year-old female and a 40 year-old-female all sustained minor to non-lifethreatening injuries and were taken to University of Michigan Hospital by ambulance.

All occupants of both vehicles were wearing seatbelts. Michigan law requires that drivers treat intersections with no power  as a 4-way-stop. Following the crash, The Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office and the Michigan State Police assigned marked  patrol cars to the intersection until the power was restored.

The Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Michigan State Police and the Sand Lake and Adrian Fire  Departments.
