
Monroe, MI – A Monroe County educator known for using diverse instruction methods has been honored with an Excellence in Education award from the Michigan Lottery.
The award winner, Nicole Bahny, is a middle school English teacher at Dundee Middle School at Dundee Community Schools.
Winners of the weekly award receive a plaque, a $1,500 cash prize, and a $500 grant to their classroom, school, or school district. One of the weekly winners will be selected as the Educator of the Year and will receive a $10,000 cash prize.
Bahny said she always wanted to be a teacher and the challenges presented by a career as an educator drew her to the profession.
Bahny said the unique activities she does with students are her favorite part of being an educator.
