Adrian, MI– A trip back to Shakespearean England will be in the cards when the Croswell Opera House stages the musical comedy ‘Something Rotten,’ opening this Friday.
The premise: a struggling playwright named Nick Bottom is scraping together a meager existence in 16th-century England, aided by his supportive wife and his loyal brother… played by Natasha Ricketts and Jordan Hayes-Devloo, both of Adrian.
Tired of living in his rival Shakespeare’s shadow, he visits a low-budget soothsayer who has a vision of Shakespeare’s next project but gets it all turned around. Instead of beating him to the punch by writing ‘Hamlet,’ Bottom stumbles into the world’s first musical — a splashy, upbeat show about breakfast titled ‘Omelet.’
‘Something Rotten’ runs for two weekends, October 8th-10th and October 14th-17th. The Croswell is requiring all audience members to wear a mask or face shield.
Tickets may be ordered by calling 517-264-7469 or going to croswell.org
