Franklin Twp., MI- Two teenagers died and two sustained serious injuries in a single-vehicle crash in Lenawee County Monday night.
Troopers from the Michigan State Police Monroe Post were dispatched to the crash on North Adrian Highway north of M-52. Troopers determined an SUV was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed, ran off the roadway to the west, then struck a large boulder in the front yard of a residence. The vehicle overturned several times and came to a stop at a section of woods.
The vehicle contained four 17-year-old male occupants. The driver was flown to St. Vincent Hospital in Toledo for life threatening injuries. The front seat passenger was transported to U of M hospital by ambulance for serious injuries and the two rear passengers were pronounced deceased on scene by medical first responders.
Troopers were assisted by personnel from the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office, The Clinton Fire Department, The Raisin Twp Fire Department, and the Tecumseh Fire Department. North Adrian Hwy was shut down for approximately six hours while troopers completed their investigation. At this time, neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be factors in the crash. Anyone having information about the incident is asked to contact the MSP Monroe Post at 734-242-3500.
