Erie Twp., MI – An Ohio man died in a single vehicle crash Wednesday morning in Monroe County.
The Sheriff’s Office reports that the crash occurred on Sterns Road, in Erie Township at approximately 2:43am.
Preliminary investigation reveals that 30-year-old Miles Duran Tripp of Holland, Ohio was operating a 2011 Chevrolet Traverse at a high rate of speed when, for unknown reasons, lost control and went off the roadway into a ditch.
Before coming to rest, the vehicle struck a drainage culvert, a utility pole, and a boat on a trailer that was parked on private property.
Excessive speed appears to be a factor in the crash. It is unknown at this time whether alcohol contributed.
The crash remains under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
