Morenci, MI – A Lenawee County man in a Michigan Correctional Facility for unlawful imprisonment of his three sons after they went missing from Morenci over 10 years ago declined to have his parole hearing that was scheduled for this week.
Chris Gautz, Public Information Officer for the Michigan Department of Corrections, told WLEN News Friday that John Skelton declined the interview with the parole board and he will now receive a continuance for one year, meaning he will see the board again a year from now.
Andrew, Alexander, and Tanner Skelton have been missing since the day after Thanksgiving in 2010…when their father, John Skelton, failed to return the boys to their mother, Tanya Zuvers.
In the past, Skelton has claimed he gave the children to an underground organization to protect them from abuse.

Skelton was denied parole back in 2020, and at the time it was determined that he would be eligible for another parole hearing in 2022.

Gautz told WLEN News that the department conducted a normal internal review of their parole decisions, and realized that their action with Skelton back in 2020 did not agree with a law that was put in place in 2018. That law requires cases such as Skelton’s to not be given anything longer than a 12-month continuance.
