Hudson, MI – The City of Hudson is still trying to dig themselves out of a deep financial hole…struggling to pay monthly bills.

The City Council received a forensic audit, which aimed to assess the various causes of the current cash flow situation in Hudson. It also had an objective of accumulating…if applicable… the amount of loss attributed to missing or misused funds based on the information provided by representatives of the City.

The company looked at cash flow from July 1st, 2015 through March 31st, 2020.

According to the report, there appeared to be a gap in two positions… City Manager and Treasurer… related to accurate execution of the position’s responsibilities, as well as lack of financial oversight. Steven Hartsel, City Manager, has been on paid administrative leave since April….and Benjamin Farley, former Treasurer, was terminated in April.

Interim Hudson City Manager, Charles Weir told WLEN News that, according to the audit, there is no missing money…

WLEN News will continue to report on the actions taken by Council Tuesday night to try to fix their current dire financial situation.
