Adrian, MI – The pole holding the railroad crossing arm was broken off of it’s base by a vehicle travelling on Treat Highway, just south of Beecher Street in Adrian Thursday afternoon.
Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to the scene at around 3:30pm. Adrian Police Department Lieutenant Randy Spence told WLEN News that the vehicle was northbound on Treat Hwy., left the roadway, hit the pole, and rolled over. The driver sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash.
Lt. Spence said that alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash. No other vehicles were involved, and Norfolk Southern Railroad was working to get a new pole at the crossing Thursday afternoon. They were also in the process of fixing the lights at the intersection…which were malfunctioning as a result of the crash.
