Fairfield Twp., MI – Crime Stoppers of Lenawee is asking for the public’s help with information concerning the intentional burning of approximately 50 acres of a field with straw waiting to be bailed.
The field is located on the corner of Hayes Rd. and Terry Hwy. in Fairfield Township. On Wednesday at about 1pm a delivery driver was making deliveries in the area and noticed a small fire in the field.
The delivery driver drove to the nearest residence and reported the fire and the fire department was contacted. Due to the wind, the fire quickly spread and required several departments to be sent to the area. It is estimated that this intentional set fire cost the farmer about $5,000 in lost product.
